coloring flowers

My mom did a lot of crafts with me when I was a kid. One thing she taught me was how to color queen anne's lace flowers. Once, my friend Lindsay and I made a bunch of blue ones and then rode around on our bikes trying to sell them to the neighbors. (One really nice lady actually bought one!) Anyway, I was pretty excited to try it out with my kids this week when we found some little queen anne's lace on a walk in the park.

If you've never done this before, it's really simple: Put a couple drops of food coloring and water in small cups or vases, cut the tips of the stems off of your flowers before placing them in the water, and then wait about 24 hours.

  1. This is so cute! This would be great as a table decoration at a fun picnic or something...

  2. I didn't think about using it as a decoration. Great idea for next summer!
